. . . Since the collapse of Tikal around AD 900, the jungle has been free to reclaim the area. However, during ancient times evidence leads us to believe that Tikal itself was fairly void of jungle growth and was probably more like a concrete city - plazas, causeways and the like were all "paved" with stone, mortar and/or stucco. I bet that was one hot place to live! . . .
